     Adoption                 Process

When we bring a dog into rescue, they become family. We always have their best interest in mind and want to set them up for success. To ensure that it is the best match for dog and adopter, we are careful when we place our dogs. All of our adoptions are foster to adopt to make sure it's a good fit for all. Please be aware that our adoption process can take up to 2 weeks to complete.

Some may think that a rescues adoption process is excessive. As a reputable rescue, it is our responsibility to ensure that our dogs go to a good home. The dogs we rescue were either let down by humans or lost their human and are sensitive. We want to set our dogs up to live out the rest of their lives knowing love. Adopting any dog is a lifetime commitment so we want to make sure it is a good match for both dog and human.

Applying to adopt a Crusty does not guarantee it will be a match. It is not first come first serve, we choose the best fit for our dogs and people applying.

We appreciate your understanding.

Adoption Process

Submit an Adoption Application- Fill out our adoption application from our website. Be sure to answer all questions or this could delay the processing of the application.

Phone Interview- A Crusty Crew volunteer will set up a call for the initial interview where we will get to know you. If we think you are a good match for the dog you are applying for, we will move forward with the next step.

Meet & greet/Home check- Another volunteer will call to schedule a meet & greet and a home check. Our adoption process requires a home check to make sure our dogs are going to a safe, secure home.

Sign adoption contract and pay adoption fee- All of our adoptions are foster to adopt. A 2-week trial period is required to make sure that it is a good match for both dog and adopter. If all goes well, then the adoption contract is signed, and adoption fee is paid.

Thank you for your support & helping the crusty's!!
